Meanwhile the left half of the screen is replaced with a static image so you never see the guy replacing the balls. When he’s gone the static image overlaying the left half of the screen is removed and nothing seems to have changed (except one of the balls has moved slightly, oops). It can be done with a handheld camera, or (easier) the camera can be on a tripod and fake shaking added.
