Derren certainly is … Derren certainly is – beyond a shadow of a doubt – a magician. He occasionally does something genuinely psychological, but he mainly just does tricks (clever ones, at that).

He is not pulling rabbits out of hats or sawing people in half, he hypnotizes people using techniques that he has studied for many years. The “froze the left … The “froze the left side of the screen and replaced the balls” is almost definitely correct. That camera shake is definitely artificial, and would have been applied AFTER the overlay of the lefthand side. Then, when the camera actually changed for Derren to show his balls (haaaaaa) it was unfroze. It is quite obvious. And quite a let down, Brown is usually quite trustworthy.
Look for the upper … Look for the upper most pixel on the left hand ball and compare it with that of the 1 2nd in – at first they are level at 2:02 but then the left becomes 1-2 pixels higher at 2:06.

Watch full screen … Watch full screen in HQ. Look at the top of the ball on the far left. At 2:00 the top of all the balls are in a straight line. At 2:06 the first ball is higher than the rest. They didn’t push that ball down far enough in the holder and it gives the split-screen trick away.
