The hard disk is divided to a platters, they are divided to tracks, and tracks are divided to sectors. If you are getting this problem it means that the sector where your data is, it is damaged, but the rest of the sectors probably are OK. You don’t need to worry, if this is your case and you don’t need to buy a new hard disk, because all others sectors are fine.. But the data on the bad sector, you can’t read it. if they are really important to you, there are companies for rescuing this data, but they cost a lot.

Not necessarily. The bad block refers to a bad sector on the HDD. You could try running a Check Disk with the option checked of fixing/repairing bad sectors. Although, in my experience this has usually led to a failing Hard Disk. If the repair option fails or you continue to get these errors, it would probably be in your best interest to backup your data to either an external, or get a new HDD and swap the data over.
