Click on the options link and choose mail options. In the General options there is, at the bottom, a place where you can uncheck a box for the event calendar. If you don’t want it, uncheck this box then click on save changes. When you go back to your mail, the event calendar will no longer be at the bottom of your reading pane.

There isn’t any way to get rid of it. You can only switch it back to the original version.
