How to get Special Events to Happen in The Sims 2?

Posted by admin on March 7th, 2010 and filed under special events | 1 Comment »

I know all about the Special Event camera, and when you disable it, the same actions are still done (like proposing, having a baby, etc.). The problem for me is, when I wanna have the wedding (special event form) w/o the SE camera, it doesn’t work, and it does the boring Wedding with just the rings and kissing, no dipping and dramatic kiss. Also, the biggest one for me is the First Kiss interaction. The SAME thing happens with this one, and when I want them to do the whole "floating in air" action, they just quickly kiss with the little annoying hearts and then it’s over! Can anyone tell me how to have the Special Event camera off, and then have First Kiss with the same actions? I’d appreciate it! THANKS!

Help with interview and resume for special events position!?

Posted by admin on March 5th, 2010 and filed under special events | 1 Comment »

I am applying for a Special Events position at my work. I have been with the company for two years and have since been promoted once. I am going to school for Hospitality and Tourism but I hope to work in a casino doing special events. I think that this could give me some experience for the long road in front of me. PLEASEE help. What do i say at the interview, what do I write on the application?

Well, good job on your initiative, however, it’s a little puzzling that you have worked for this company for two years and it seems, from your question, that absolutely no one know you or what your capable of. I’d stress these points:

    1) You’ve been there two years and have been promoted.
    2) You are already going to school for Hospitality and Tourism (Texas A&M, Clemson are the best for that, so I hope it’s one of those!)
    3) This position more aligns with your future hopes, dreams and aspirations both personally and professionally.
    4) DO YOUR HOMEWORK – make sure you are prepared on what the company has done and ask questions about the direction of the company for the future. It will show the interviewer that you’re interested and you sincerely hope to contribute to that direction.

    Good luck!

Are there any special events going on in New Orleans the weekend of January 22, 2010?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under special events | 2 Comments »

I have a friend coming to visit and am interested in any special events happening the weekend of January 21-24th, 2010. Also, any suggestions for fun nightlife locations? Fun places to go on Bourbon Street? My friend does not eat seafood even though New Orleans is famous for it.. any suggestions for some great non-seafood dining?

    Thanks!

I can’t think of any special events arond then, but check the paper when the dates approach:

The Palm Court restaurant is very nice, has moderate prices, and offers traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not open every day). The Palm Court is closed from about mid-July 25th to sometime in August each year: http://www.palmcourtjazzcafe.com/

Maximo’s Italian Grill has great food and atmosphere: 1117 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, (504) 586-8883. www.maximosgrill.com

Tujaques Restaurant (823 Decatur Street) is very traditional and has moderate prices: www.tujaguesrestaurant.com

Cafe Degas is a very French restaurant near City Park at 3127 Esplanade – which is not within walking distance of downtown (5 to 10 minutes by taxi). They are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays (504-945-5635). www.cafedegas.com

The Napoleon House restaurant is at 500 Chartres Street in the FQ, and has a menu of great local dishes: www.napoleonhouse.com

There is always music, but the bands change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music.

Note that music clubs often advertise "No Cover", meaning there is no charge for entering. However, clubs with "No Cover" often require that customers buy a beverage each for every "set" of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so KNOW THE PRICE before you sit down. Clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking nothing (clubs only make money from the drinks they sell – not from the music). It is also a good idea to pay for each round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it is delivered so there can’t be any confusion at the end of the evening.

An incomplete guide to bars & clubs:

    www.neworleanscheapdrinks.com

About certain alcoholic beverages: Realize that some famous drinks are VERY potent compared with regular cocktails that have only 1 to 1 ½ ounces of alcohol. For example, a Hurricane is basically 3 or 4 ounces of rum in something like red Kool-Aid, and a Hand Grenade has at least 4 ½ ounces of Everclear + rum + vodka mixed with melon liquor. They don’t necessarily taste like an alcoholic beverage and it is easy to over-indulge.

I hope you have a great time!

Are there any special events in Sydney for the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under special events | 3 Comments »

This weekend is the long weekend and I was wondering if there are any special events going on, like exhibitions or festivals? I’d like to do something different.

There is HEAPS going on, such as the Sydney International Film Festival which starts this week. http://www.sydneyfilmfestival.org/default.aspx
The Sydney Italian Festival has been going for a while but finishes on the Long weekend – http://www.sydneyitalianfestival.com.au/
The Darling Harbour Jazz & Blues festival is on http://www.darlingharbour.com/sydney-Things_To_Do-Jazz_Blues_Festival.htm
Luminous is currently on and will also be on over the long weekend – http://vividsydney.com/

Hope that helps! More below in the source link

So why do Christians seem to get "most blessed" during retreats and special events?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2010 and filed under special events | 11 Comments »

I’m a Christian, and I’ve noticed that many Christians seem to get "most blessed" during retreats and special events. This doesn’t make sense to me, why can’t people get blessed during their own time with God? Why do they have to become something totally different during events like these? I’ve been to these retreats and special events, and I think there great, but I don’t become something that I’m not. I don’t emphasize my spirituality, instead I treat these events like a regular service. I don’t see why people need to act totally different during these events, it actually seems fake to me sometimes.

Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child’s acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.

Nothing to do with being blessed and all to do with psychology!!
