So I have to write a 5-7 page paper on a world event.. the event can’t be that current because i have to use at least 3 scholarly journals and those usually take a while to write… so any ideas??!!!
Also I have to use the event and describe it through the systemic levels of analysis.
Systemic Analysis is one of several types of analysis that assist us in understanding the social and economic reality of which we are a part.
I’d suggest the theft of the 2000 U.S. presidential election by the Supreme Court, but I’m not sure if it happened long ago enough for your purposes or if you could find the "scholarly journals". The book I read was The betrayal of America, by Vincent Bugliosi. I thought it was a good and legally accurate work, but I don’t know if it would suit your purposes.
What was the event by an artist that triggered a major change in MTV’s programming style and offerings?
I dont know, but that bloody channel should be renamed rtv. Cant remember the last time I saw a music video on there.
BlizzCon: An Event for Fans was filmed, directed, produced, and edited by me. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the help and cooperation from my former guildmates Matt and Chris, along with Lorraine finding the time to sit down and answer my questions.
I figured I should take advantage of my trip to BlizzCon by creating a short documentary of the event itself. I suppose the main purpose of this decision was to challenge myself, prepare for some documentary film classes (as well as a few other Journalistic Electronic Media classes), and update my digital portfolio. In total, the project took 2 days to film and 8 days to edit.

I have planned parties for family and friends and feel event consulting/planning would be a career i want to persue and would like to know how to start.Im currently taking interior design courses and plan to continue however i also want to break into the event planning industry.
Event planning for others is all about networking and having GREAT communication skills. One thing to remember about planning events for others is that when you contract with them you accept 100% responsibility for their event. Anything that is good OR bad about is your fault! I’ve had situations where I truly thought I had a firm grasp on what a client was looking for in their event only to be told after it was completed that i’d missed the mark completely! I will tell you this, planning is so much fun and it can be so very very rewarding when you have a wedding or conference go off without a hitch. . .or when you do a child’s birthday party and you can see the excitment in their face is just incredible!!!
You will need to check with your Secretary of State as far as licensing requirements as a planner in your state. Every state is different. One example of this is that in Illinois an event planner is required to liquor liability and dram shop insurance if they will be working on any event(s) that involve alcohol on site. In Iowa there is no such requirement. Crazy but true. But definately check things out for real.
If you enjoy working with people, are organized, and are willing to rise to the challenge of "reading" the minds of your clients, GO FOR IT!!!
Best of luck to you!!
I am interested in Art and architecture and am trying to tie that into a career of planning events for nonprofits, whatever. Should I major in PR? I have an AA in general studies but I don’t know what to do next. Any good sites for internships? What schools offer event planning?
Looking for answerers who have job related experience but not neccessary.
If you live in a medium-size or large city, chances are there are firms in your area that specialize in event planning. Look for a job in one. Also look for jobs in sales/catering department of large hotels with convention or meeting facilities, or in a local convention/visitors bureau, or in a large corporation with an in-house special events office. If you have an AA degree you probably don’t need more schooling, though some employers may prefer a bachelor’s degree. If you decide to continue your education, a business-related field would probably be most relevant (I do not know of any specialized programs in event planning, though they may exist). In any case, good organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills would be extremely helpful.
For all of you who insist on posting the ‘mescaline change’ I changed it the first time. It’s been changed for a while.

Lyrics:
Standing on a bus stop
Feeling your head pop
Out in the night
In the kind of night
Where you want to be out
On the street, on the street
Crawling up the walls
Like a cat in heat
And the air is thin
And it blows through your skin
And you feel like something
Is about to begin
But you don’t know what
And you don’t know when
So you tear at your hair
And you scratch at your skin
You wanna run away, run away
Just get on the train and leave today
And it doesn’t matter where you spend the night
You just might end up somewhere in a fight, in a fight
Or calling your room on a concrete shelf
Fighting all alone, with yourself, with yourself
And you just wanna feel like a coin that’s been tossed
In a wishing well, a wishing well
A wishing well, a wishing well
Well you’re tossed in the air
And you fell and you fell
Through the dark blue waters
Where you cast your spell
Like you were just a wish that could turn out well
So you stand on the corner
Where the angels sit
And you think to yourself,
“This is it, this is it
This is all that I have
All I can stand
Is this air in my lungs
And this coin in my hand”
That you tossed in the air
And I fell, and I fell
All the way to the bottom
Of the well, of the well
Like those soft little secrets
That you tell, that you tell
To yourself, when you think
No one’s listening to, well
And the walls spin
And you’re paper-thin
From the haze of the smoke
And the mescaline
The threat of your brow
Under unmade sheets
In your ear with the noise
From the darkest streets
We ran far and wide
You screamed, you cried
You thought suicide was an alibi
But you were always a mess
You were always aloof
Yeah, it’s awful, I guess
But it’s the awful truth
It was truth from the first
To the last words that she read
And she emerged from the dark
Like a ghost in my head
She said, “I haven’t forgot
Any words that you said
I just stare at the clocks
And I cry in my sleep
And I tear up your letters
And I burn them in heaps
And I gather the ashes
In that hole in the ground
Where we fell”

I am currently organizing a charity event at my school to raise money for kids with cancer and their families. The event is going to feature professional comedians and all proceeds with benefit this cause. How do I find companies to sponsor the event? How do i go about raising a lot of money.
Since it is your local High School I would approach all the local business firms. Call and set up an appointment, explain to them what you are trying to do and ask if you can depend on their support, and what can you put them down for.,
Once you have one sponsor you can use that as leverage in going to the other businesses.
Money is tight this year, but donations are a tax write off, so that may help, and certainly it is a wonderful cause.
Good luck and I wish you much success….thank you

Two years ago, The Airborne Toxic Event formed in Los Angeles, a city with one of the strongest and most diverse music communities in the country right now. Without a manager, a PR company, or a label, they still received overwhelming critical and popular acclaim. Rolling Stone named them one of the Top 25 Bands on MySpace, and The LA Times, LA weekly, NME and countless music blogs have written rave reviews about their energetic live shows. Earlier this year, their residency at Silver Lake’s popular venue Spaceland was spread by word of mouth to the point where lines were wrapped around the block and every show was sold out. Due to popular demand, the legendary radio station KROQ began playing their song, “Sometime Around Midnight” on regular rotation, and it quickly became the most requested song. This marks the first time KROQ has included an unsigned band on their playlist in over ten years.
In this episode of Rehearsal Space, singer and founder Mikel Jollett gives an introduction to this exciting band. He explains how these five musicians came together, why they recently chose to sign to Majordomo Records, and the process by which they recorded their self-titled debut album, which will be released on August 5, 2008.

So what is a major event that has happened in either Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, or the Mediterranean basin between 4000 BCE and 600 BCE? ( An event that greatly affected and influenced either one of these areas/civilizations)
like specifically what kind of major event.
If you are going to look at an invention or discovery as an remarkable event then I suggest you look at China. You see, the Chinese invented something that has quite literally changed the face of the world. This remarkable invention is known as gun powder. Ah, gun powder. So much has been done with it. It led to the decrease of the Native populations in both North and South Americas. You have the Civil War, WW1, WW2. Texas’ war for independence, California’s war for independence. That’s just looking at about 200 years of U.S. History. Imagine the effects all of the world. Spain tried to conquer England with use of their gun powder during the reign of Elizabeth 1.
It’s effects were all of the world. Gun powder allowed explorers to explore and of course conquer.
Your question is though, how did gun powder really effect China, who gives a fig about the rest of the world.
Simple. European countries and America all wanted a slice of China for trade. Our military presence there was very strong. We only managed to hold ground there do weapons that evolved from… gun powder. See Boxer Rebellion.
Good luck =)
